Vintage

Good morning!  Today at Dream Valley we are having a vintage challenge.  Our sponsor this fortnight is The Paper Shelter:

To win a lovely prize from The Paper Shelter, make and upload a card onto the Dream Valley vintage challenge!

For my card I have used the truck from Stampin' Up set Countryside.  I love this old truck!  Using three different color browns, and black around the edges, I sponged it to make it look like a black and white photo.  I wanted to keep the simplicity so I adhered it to regular kraft paper.

I would like to add this card to the following challenges:
Open-minded Challenges - monochrome
My Sheri Crafts - vintage guy
A little Bit Crafty - man up

Have a great week, and stay tuned next week for some awesome news!

Butterfly in the sky...

This card just reminded me of the Reading Rainbow song!  Ha!  Ok, down to business....This fortnight at Dream Valley Challenges we would like to see what you create using die cuts and punches.  We have two sponsors this time around.

The first one is One Stop Card Crafts that has donated this:

The second one is Inked Treasures!

For my card I have stuck with a clean and simple card.

I stamped the sentiment from Stampin' Up set Heard From the Heart in black on a light blue cardstock.  I used a butterfly punch from Marvy, and placed them around the image being careful to adhere only the bodies.  Once I had the butterflies where I wanted them I added some stickles and popped up the wings!  Simple yet very pretty and sparkly!

I would like to add this to the challenge at CAS-ual Friday's.  They would like a CAS card including something you would see in the sky!

I hope you play along in our challenge at Dream Valley!

Earth Tones

Good morning!  It's a beautiful Sunday!  Today at Dream Valley we are looking for cards or projects using earth tones.

This fortnight out sponsor is:

The winner gets £20 to spend in the store!

For my card I have used the Stampin' Up set Little Boys.  I stamped the image and sentiment on kraft paper.  I had never colored with copics on kraft paper before, so I wasn't sure how it would work out.  It just turns out that you can't use the lightest blending tones on the kraft because it only looks like it's wet instead of a color.  The darker colors show up better.  I didn't want to color in the whole image, because I wanted the blues and browns to really show up like those photos you see where one color is popping out.  Couldn't resist the green frog though!

I would like to add this to the following challenges:

Drunken Stampers - use kraft
Our Creative Corner - our boys and their toys
Secret Crafter - men's card

Have a great week!

....at Dream Valley Challenges!  Today we would like to see your wedding creations!  One Stop Card Crafts is our sponsor this fortnight.  Come on and play for your chance to win this:

For my card I have used Stampin' Up set Blooming With Happiness.  I colored the image with copics.  I was excited to use the new twine that I had just gotten!  It is so much fun and I have seen it used in so many different ways!

I hope you have a great week, and make sure you come play in the wedding challenge at Dream Valley!

ps.  Today is my birthday!  Yippee!

Welcome to the New Year at Dream Valley!

This is our first challenge of 2012 for us at Dream Valley!  It's going to be an easy peasy one of Anything Goes!!!

Our sponsor this fortnight is One Stop Card Crafts.  They are generously donating this:

So come on over and load up your project at Dream Valley for a chance to win!

For my project I made three clean and simple design cards using Stampin' Up set Upsy Daisy.

I used two different colors on each card and stamped off one of them to create definition in the blooms.  Here's some more photos!

Have a great week everyone!

One Layer Embossing

Hi there!  It's been a rainy start to the week so here I am with a quick post with something I whipped up yesterday.  It is a one layer card that I have made for the challenge at Less Is More.  The challenge is to use embossing on a one layer card.  I have heat embossed all of the black.  I am also entering into the challenge at Crafty Cardmakers for embossing.

I also used the challenge from The Crazy Challenge to make it pink and green.  This is made using pretty much all Stampin' Up products except for the ribbon.  This was my first time making a pleated ribbon, but I like how it turned out.  I made the rose from the same pink ribbon to coordinate.

Have a great day!

Boy's Altered Notebook

Haven't had much time for blogging lately as we have been hounded with snowstorms for a couple of weeks, and with the kids home there is less time to craft and scan the net!  Oh well.  I'm here now!!

This is a notebook I have whipped up for my son to give to his friend as a birthday gift.  Nine years old is a hard age to shop for, so we decided upon a notebook and pen so he can write stories etc.  Hence the 9 on the cover!

I have to say, that my daughter came up with the brilliant idea of the cowboy roping the number.  I absolutely love how it came out!

Papers, ink and stamp set Bronc Buster from Stampin' Up.  I have distressed the background with different shades of brown and carried that over to the pocket.  The number nine is a chipboard piece that I heat embossed with silver.

The tag on the pocket, and the horseshoe star was my first attempt at the faux metal technique I found here.  I love how well it came out, and it was fun!  Clean-up: not so fun.

I have entered this into the following challenges:

Stamp with Fun #95 - blue/brown
Creative Card Crew - for men
CRAFT Challenge #86 - sports
Allsorts Challenge #87 - male/boy
Paper Sundaes - distressing
Cards for men - let's party
Woodware USA - anything goes
Dude Time Doodles - anything but a card

This sentiment is from the Stampin' Up set Wisecracks:

and this image is from House Mouse:

Put it all together and what do you get?

A very humorous Valentine??  Oh well, I'm not sure what I'll use it for yet!

Here's a list of the challenges:

Totally Stampalicious:  at least 2 different sets
Mojo Monday #173:  sketch
House Mouse:  New Beginning

Let's Ink It Up - Recycle It

This week at Let's Ink It Up the challenge is to recycle something.  In case you haven't heard, the challenge is going to run for an entire month now, so you have until the 30th of November to get your creations in!

Our sponsors for the month of November are Whimsy Stamps and Wags 'n Whiskers!  Yes two sponsors means two winners!  Head on over to the challenge blog and see the spectacular prizes they have in store for you guys!

For my project I altered an old square shaped canning jar.  I picked up some great paper at my local crafting store, and this seemed like the perfect place to use it.   I paired that with a tag I made out of a sizzix die cut and Stampin' Up stamp sets.  The sentiment is from the set called Snowy Play, and I filled in some extra snow with the set Itty Bitty Backgrounds.

I'm not sure yet what I'm going to put in it, but it will probably be a Christmas gift for someone!

I'm going to enter this into the following challenges:

Little Red Wagon - use red
Pixie Cottage - recycle and/or sketch (I recycled!)
Craft your Passion - anything goes
PaperPlay Challenges - circles
Charisma Cardz - with love at Christmas (does it work???)
Raise the Bar - Curves (Scallops)

Let's Ink It Up - Challenge #3

Hello, here's my second post today! Yes, weekend's are busy around here! lol Today's challenge at Let's Ink It Up is to use your favorite stamp with the twist being to use a charm.
I have to say this was a stretch for me, because I haven't ever used a charm! I love being on design teams, they challenge you to try new stuff all the time! :)

Ok, so you know our challenge, but here's the sponsor: Caroline's Rubber Stamps! Caroline has donated a voucher for £20! Here's what Caroline has to say:

I have been designing rubber stamps for well over 20 years and have written for many magazines over that time. I live in Liverpool with husband and son...my daughter left home about a year ago.

As well as stamping and crafting I enjoy gardening (when it's not raining) and oil painting. I have recently started designing digistamps. I am looking forward to sponsoring the challenges and to seeing all your artwork.

Make sure you head on over and check out her stamps and get some shopping in!

So you know our challenge and our sponsor, now what did I make?! Well like I said this is a bit of a stretch for me to use a charm, and how do you use a grass stamp with a charm? This is what I came up with!

Not too shabby huh?! The papers are scraps, but I'm pretty sure they're from Stampin' Up. The grass stamp is from the Stampin' Up set Inspired by Nature. The sentiment is from Stampscapes.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and come play at Let's Ink It Up!

Oh yeah! Forgot again! I'm entering these challenges:

Creative Card Crew - Autumn/Fall
Stampin Royalty - stitching (mine is faux, hope that's ok!)

SSDS Challenge - Thank you

Hello everyone! Can you believe that days are getting shorter.....and colder!? My kids asked where their BIG blankets were last night!

Well, on this lovely September Saturday the challenge at Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Saturdays is to make a thank you card.

For my card I used the sketch from Mojo Monday. Creative Inspirations is looking for autumn colors for their DT call, and Theme Thursday is also looking for fall colors. Fab 'N Funky just wants what'eva for their DT call! So to combine all that and the SSDS challenge of making a thank you card, here's mine!

I was loath to cut all new paper, so I dug out my scrap drawer and went at it! The flower is made from Stampin' Up set Doodle This, and the sentiment comes from another Stampin' Up set called Many Thanks.

I hope you play in our challenge at SSDS! Have a great weekend!

SSDS - Christmas Challenge

Hello fellow crafters! It's been a long hot week here in New Hampshire! We've been in the 90-100 degree F range all this week and I am definitely looking forward to the change over to 70's! Hot, Hot week for the second week of school for the kids! Ah well, they are off on a long weekend now anyway!

Ok, on to the challenge at Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Saturdays! This week we are looking for your Christmas cards! I, for one, have started seeing what designs I want to make for my Christmas cards this year, so I have been experimenting with different ideas!

This week I used another stamp from the Stampin' Up set Snowy Play that I borrowed from my MIL. Thank you! :) I stamped this skating snowman on white cardstock and colored him with my copics. Then I did some creative cutting! Not exactly sure where I came up with this, just did! lol After I had him all cut out I glittered the whole "ice" area. The red and green paper is from Stampin' Up and the dp is a random scrap. I finished it off with some offray ribbon.

I am entering this card into these challenges:

Creative Inspirations - Christmas in August
Crafty Cardmakers - glitter and sparkle
Paper Sundaes - Christmas in August
Christmas Card Challenge - sparkle and shine

Don't forget to check out the other DT projects and upload your own at SSDS!

Digi Doodles gave us some digis to play with, and I decided to use Old Truck. I colored it with my copics after my husband researched what the paint jobs looked like! Thanks honey! I entered this into the following challenges:

Paper Sundaes - sketch

Theme Thursday - vintage man

Let's Ink It Up - First Challenge Ever!!!!!

Hello! I'm very excited to show you the first ever challenge over at Let's Ink It Up! This is a blog challenge dedicated to using your rubber stamps! So we'd like you to get inky with us!

Our first challenge is one most people like, it is Anything Goes with a Twist......the twist is there must be the color yellow somewhere on your project! I hope you all come along and play with us, who know you could win something from our lovely sponsor Scrapbook Boutique!

Scrapbook Boutique is giving one lucky winner a $20 voucher to their store! Awesome!

For my project I took a little inspiration from Michelle Zindorf and did a brayering project. I inked and embossed the grass, then inked and embossed the bear. Then I brayered some yellow onto the top of the panel, followed by some orange and red right at the tippy top! I flipped it over and sponged some green at the bottom with the grass and some black around the edges. The bear is from Stampin' Up set Wildlife Reserve.

I entered this card into the following challenges:

Stampin' for the Weekend - anything goes
Paper Cutz - anything goes
ResQ Challenge - what rejuvenates you? (being outside does, but I'm sure the rush of adrenalin when you face that bear would do the trick! :)

So I hope we see all of you at the new challenge blog Let's Ink It Up!
