Butterfly in the sky...

This card just reminded me of the Reading Rainbow song!  Ha!  Ok, down to business....This fortnight at Dream Valley Challenges we would like to see what you create using die cuts and punches.  We have two sponsors this time around.

The first one is One Stop Card Crafts that has donated this:

The second one is Inked Treasures!

For my card I have stuck with a clean and simple card.

I stamped the sentiment from Stampin' Up set Heard From the Heart in black on a light blue cardstock.  I used a butterfly punch from Marvy, and placed them around the image being careful to adhere only the bodies.  Once I had the butterflies where I wanted them I added some stickles and popped up the wings!  Simple yet very pretty and sparkly!

I would like to add this to the challenge at CAS-ual Friday's.  They would like a CAS card including something you would see in the sky!

I hope you play along in our challenge at Dream Valley!

Dream Valley - Things with Wings

Hello again Crafters!  I just wanted to say thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes I received on Friday!  I passed it relatively quietly as my daughter is still sick.  Good news is that we finally have our car back, and fingers crossed it stays that way!

Our next challenge at Dream Valley is to show us your Things with Wings!  Our sponsor is One Stop Card Crafts.  They have donated this as the prize:

I have made an explosion box (my first attempt!) with white and bashful blue paper and ink from Stampin' Up.

The flowers are made using Stampin' Up set In Full Bloom.  The sentiment on the inside was made using a stamp from Stampin' Up set A Greeting for all Reasons.

The butterflies were punched out and glittered with diamond dust and adhered with the "Ultimate" glue.  The ribbon is from my stash.

I am entering this into the following challenges as well:

By the Cute and Girly - cute and girly
Just Add Ink - box or a bag
SSDS - glitz

Have a great week!

Springing into May!

It seems spring and butterflies are what is called for this week! Many challenges are looking for these, so I combined that with Cupcake Inspirations picture challenge, and this is what came out!

These are definitely not my colors, so I really felt it was a challenge! My mind just can't see the pink and the orange together as being good, so I literally tried to stitch them together! I used the sketch from the Stamptacular Sunday challenge blog and cut out all my panels (all paper is from Stampin' Up). Then I dug out the sewing machine and stitched them all onto the green cardstock. The stamp is from a Stampin' Up set called Flower of the Month. The rhinestones and flowers are from my stash. The butterfly punch is made by Marvy, and I just love it! I punched them from yellow cardstock, glittered them, and glued down only their bodies so I could pop the wings up.

I entered this card into these challenges:

Cupcake Inspiration #57 - picture inspiration
The Crafty Pad - any punch
Cowgirl Sunday Challenge - mother's day or spring
Tellen's Place - dragonflies and butterflies
Alphabet Challenge - B is for Butterflies
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Shiny, Sparkly, Special
Sweet Stampin' - Color combo

Can't Wait for Spring!

Here is the card that I made for the Mojo Monday Blog Challenge 123, and the Cooking It Up With Katie challenge.

The card base is almost a mustard yellow. I overlaid that with a forest green paper, heat embossed with gold embossing powder. Next I used versa mark ink around the main image with the second flower. The stamp set I used was Stampin' Up's In Full Bloom. The white border on the front was punched with the Marvy butterfly punch and adhered to the front flap. Where the yellow and the white come together I glued a strip of gold patterned paper. It doesn't really show up well in the picture, but the butterflies have been glittered with diamond dust. I glued them to the card with the Ultimate glue and folded their wings a bit to make them look like they are flying off the page!

Mojo Monday is a great blog that has a challenge posted every Monday. It is a sketch challenge blog, meaning they post an image pattern that you need to follow to be considered for the prize. Click here to check out the sketch if you want to play along!

This card also qualifies for the Cooking It Up With Katie Challenge #9. The non human elements are the flowers and butterflies, the texture is the heat embossed flower and the glitter, and the butterfly punch is new! I had a great time with this challenge!
