Graduation Celebration!!!

One of my good friends from grade school (ok, ok, I've actually known her since pre-school!) is graduating from medical school in a week, and I wanted to make her a graduation card. I didn't want to make it too girly, because that's just not her. I also didn't want it too cutsie because this is medical school, not high school! Ok, so this is what I made!

The hardest part of this card was making the background paper. I used three different inks and the brayer and heat embossing to get the effect I wanted. First I brayered some light yellow in a couple of spots, leaving some white on the paper. Then I brayered gray over some other areas. Next came the heat embossing. I stamped the graduation cap from Stampin' Up set Sketch an Event in versamark ink and embossed with a clear powder. When that had cooled I brayered a stripe of purple over the center. I think it came out pretty well! :)

I used some dp on the left side, and some coordinating purple and yellow for the card and the mat for the words. The Congrats Graduate sentiment came from a clear stamp starter kit purchased from a dollar store. The Believe sentiment came from another Stampin' Up set called Dreams and Dragons.

I entered this card into these challenges:

Pink Elephant - yellow, dp and buttons
Cupcake Craft - Buttons
Cute Card Thursday - Someone Special

I just want to wish my good friend the best of luck throughout her residency and her whole career! You are awesome! Congratulations!
